Sports Surface Grass onto concrete – Sandymount, Dublin

Here is a great example of turning a concrete yard into a multi-use sports and play area, that is safe and colourful!

Scoile Mhuire in Sandymount, Co.Dublin had a typically dour concrete playground that was more of a thoroughfare than a playground. They love their sports and play in Scoil Mhuire, so what better than a multi-use SPORTS SURFACE area instead?

They called our HQ in Naas, and after a site visit and a detailed look at requirements, they decided on using our SPORTS GRASS with foam underlay as a way to get the kids back playing in the yard and also run P.E. classes on it.

Even with our wet Irish weather, the surface is usable all year round, it has great drainage, allowing up to 60 litres per square metre (per minute) to drain off without any retention.

It is also a practical solution, as we also installed access points into the grass for existing manholes and grills that maintenance teams may still need access to.
