Dominican Primary School now has a courtyard that looks completely different. What was once a standard yard has been turned into a bright, lively basketball court that grabs attention the second you see it. The main surface is a bold blue artificial grass. It changes the whole atmosphere of the space. Instead of feeling flat, the courtyard now has a strong identity, and the colour makes it feel exciting and fun for the pupils who use it every day. Cut neatly into the surface are the basketball markings in white grass. The lines are clear and crisp, so games have shape and direction. Children can practise shooting, work on passing drills, or just have a quick game at break time. The markings give the court purpose without taking away from the playful feel of the yard.
To finish it off, there’s a red border running around the edge. Against the blue, it really stands out. The red frames the court, makes the colours pop even more, and adds that extra bit of character. It’s a small touch that makes the court look polished and full of life.
