This school’s courtyard has been given a real lift. What was once a grey, tired space is now bright and full of colour. The change is striking the moment you see it. The courtyard floor is filled with playful designs that instantly catch the eye. Around the edge, a blue border frames the space neatly and makes the colours stand out even more. It feels cheerful, fun, and much more inviting than before. From there, your eye is drawn to the red grass stairs leading up to the next level. It’s a simple touch but really effective. Instead of bare steps, they now carry the colour and energy from the courtyard into the upper yard.

Pupils love running up and down them, and it makes the two areas feel connected. At the top is the biggest change - a sports pitch laid in green artificial grass. Clear white line markings give the pitch shape and structure, so it works perfectly for PE lessons, matches or quick kick-arounds at break. A second blue border runs around the edge, tying the look back to the courtyard below. The consistency makes the whole design feel complete.

The result is two very different but linked spaces. One for play, colour and games. The other for sport and activity. Together, they’ve turned the school yard into somewhere pupils actually want to spend time. Teachers have noticed the change too. The surface is durable, easy to manage, and ready to use all year round. There’s less hassle, and a lot more value in how the spaces are used.
