St. Louis School has had a big change to its courtyard. The dull yard that was there before has been turned into a bright artificial grass pitch that’s hard to miss. It catches your eye straight away and makes the space feel alive. The pitch isn’t just a standard rectangle. It was designed with curved edges, which gives it a softer, more natural look. That detail makes the area feel welcoming and it really lifts the overall design. Around the outside, there are lanes in yellow, red and blue. They’re colourful, fun, and give pupils another place to move. Some use them for running or racing, others just walk the loop with friends. It means there’s more going on than just the main pitch. In the centre, you’ll find six white goal markings cut into the grass. These markings make the space flexible. One day it’s set up for a big game. The next day, teachers can split it in two so more children can play at once. That flexibility is great for PE lessons and break times when everyone wants to get involved.
The change has been noticed right away. Pupils use the yard differently now - it’s not just a place to pass through but somewhere to play and spend time. The colours help, but so does the simple fact that it feels like a proper pitch. For staff, it’s practical too. The artificial grass surface is strong, easy to care for and ready year-round. The markings are built in, so the pitch is always set up and waiting. This project turned a courtyard that didn’t offer much into a pitch that has colour, character and plenty of ways to use it. Another successful job from the team at Schools Grass.
