This school in Athenry has had a big change to its yard. Before, it was just a plain, grey space with not much to offer. Now it’s full of colour, movement and places for children to enjoy. The centre of the yard is a new artificial grass pitch. It’s green, fresh and instantly makes the space feel more alive. Pupils use it for football, PE lessons or just running around at break. It gives the school a proper spot for games instead of just a flat yard. Around the outside, two bold lanes wrap the whole space - one red, one blue. They frame the pitch nicely and give students another way to use the yard. Some race each other around the track. Others take it slower, walking laps with friends while chatting. It’s simple but it adds a lot of energy to the place.
The design didn’t stop there. Built into the grass are colourful shapes and a hopscotch game. These little extras make a huge difference. Kids jump from shape to shape, follow the patterns, or invent their own games as they go. The hopscotch is always popular - it’s ready-made fun without needing extra equipment.
