Sometimes it’s the small touches that make the biggest difference. At Micheal & Peters Junior School, we worked on just a corner of the courtyard - but what a change it made. The space now has a bold patch of artificial grass that instantly draws the eye. Instead of being just another part of the yard, it stands out with strong colours and playful shapes. Black and red grasses sit side by side with traditional green, creating a striking contrast that can be seen the moment you walk in. Adding to that, we fitted paw print designs that bring a sense of fun and imagination to the space. Children notice them straight away. They’re more than decoration; they’re prompts for play, little cues that spark movement and creativity.

Even though the installation is modest in size, it transforms how the courtyard feels. That corner has gone from plain to purposeful, offering pupils a spot that looks different, feels different, and encourages them to interact with it in new ways. Teachers now have an easy visual feature they can build into activities, and pupils simply enjoy the change of scene. This project is proof that you don’t always need a large installation to make an impact. A splash of colour, a playful design, and the right materials can lift a space and give it new life. For Micheal & Peters Junior School, it’s a small corner that now packs a big punch.
