Borris School

Take A Look At Our Work
image of play area in Special Needs school - after installation of artificial grass

Borris School’s yard has had a real change. Where there used to be a plain open space, there’s now a bright running track that the children love. SchoolsGrass carried out the work, and it’s hard to miss the difference. The track is made with green artificial grass, laid out clean and even so it can be used every day of the year. What makes it stand out are the lanes - eight in total - divided by colourful lines in pink, orange, blue and red. The colours pop against the green and bring the whole area to life.

Around the outside, yellow borders frame the track and separate it neatly from the rest of the yard. It’s a simple detail, but it gives the play area its own identity. When you walk out and see the mix of green, bright lane colours and bold yellow borders, it really lifts the space. The track isn’t just for looks. Pupils now have a proper place to run and race. Some sprint from one end to the other, others jog in pairs, and plenty just use the lanes as part of their own games. It’s structured enough for PE lessons but still fun and flexible for break times. Teachers like it too.

The lanes are already there - no need for cones or chalk. The surface is soft, low-maintenance and reliable, so it stays ready to use without extra effort. That makes it practical as well as eye-catching. This project shows how much colour can change a yard. What was once just an empty space is now a track full of energy and purpose. For Borris School, it means more movement, more play, and a brighter place for pupils every day. For SchoolsGrass, it’s another reminder that a little imagination goes a long way.
